Mid Winter Break - Trip to Utah!

Pinewood Derby 2012

January...oh wait...due to snow we have to reschedule......

February - Pinewood Derby 2012
With the reschedule it added a high level of crazy. (Huge thanks to the Knight family for helping make it all happen and also Bro. Rosen for stepping in last minute and being our official score keeper). The track was up in the primary room and it turned out really great.
The Brothers Knight helped out a lot. The elder brother Knight was there to make every car weighed in appropriately and brought all the tools in case they needed some adjustment. The younger knight was my wonderful assistant and helped hand all the cars and make sure I was putting them on the right track.
Here are the cars - the official and Kenzie's unofficial car that we used to test the track :)
We had a really good crowd - all of the boys except one were able to make it!!
Jack won the award for "Best Workmanship"

The Knights all made cars and we held a special race for them - yes, one was a butterfly and another was a dress. Super creative!!!

Paper Hats for FHE...

Two of our favorite people (pictured above) Kurt and Bonnie came to join us for Family Home Evening. They were in charge of the activity, and they decided we should make paper hats. We had so much fun!!!
The finished products (and many silly faces)

Ice, Snow, No School, No Power and a Platypus

The Criddle Family gave us tickets to see Phineas and Ferb at the Showare Center for Christmas. It was so much fun!

Which one is Perry?

We let Jack take the leash on the dog for a bit....it didn't turn out so well:

The Architect....

Jack - our Architect in training, received a giant bucket of Legos for Christmas (Thanks Brian!). Since then he has been building many different creations. We take pictures of them and then we have battles :) He asked me to post some so he could show people some of the things he has done. Here are a few that I was able to capture before they were put away.

This is a park. You will notice the police station where someone is sleeping on the job. He also created a fountain in the middle that rotates, and a mail box with actual mail inside. He has a story that goes with every piece of the park.

This is a pizza place - with delivery man heading out the door. The yellow diving board looking thing in the back is the oven where the pizza comes out on a conveyor belt.

This is a a public park...I can't remember all the details.

We build a lot of ships. Mostly they are pirate type ships and then we battle using a dice so no ones creations actually get destroyed. These planes are some that Dad and Jack created together.

Jack is a pretty creative kid. I hope he sticks to the Architect idea - he definitely has the mind for it.
